Leading public sector lender, Punjab National Bank has taken a customer-friendly initiative of making locker visiting facility free for its customers. Thus, becoming the first public sector bank to introduce such a facility. Earlier only 12 free visits in a year were allowed and the customer had to pay a charge of Rs.50 if they crossed this limit. Now PNB locker holders are allowed to make any number of free visits. The new rule came into effect from 1 August 2016.
According to the PNB locker operating rules, high-risk holders of lease have to operate their lockers at least once a year. Further, medium risk holders of lease should operate their lockers once in three years. PNB officials have said that non-operation of these lockers within the required time period would lead to breaking open of the locker regardless of the rent that had been paid by the locker holder.
The bank is receiving a lot of appreciation and the customers are giving a very good response, especially women customers.
