In order to reduce the time required in claim settlement and ease the process of withdrawal from the EPF account, the government has come up with a new initiative. Employees can link their Aadhaar with UAN (Universal Account Number) and get their EPF claims processed in as less as 5 days. Earlier, the procedure usually took months to process and the employee had to get the attestation done from the employer.
After the implementation of new rules, employees can fill the “Composite Claims Form” and do away from the employer’s attestation process. This has largely reduced the time taken to settle PF claims. But the claims would be processed in the given time limit only when the applicant fulfills certain conditions. These conditions are as follows:
- The claim has to be filed online at https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
- Only those employees who have UAN can apply for PF settlements.
- Employees have to update and get their Aadhaar and bank details approved on the portal to complete the KYC (Know Your Customer) process.
- The current employer has to verify the e-KYC submitted by the employee.

does transfer of previous epf amount is considered as contribution, w.r.t. rule of marking account inoperative after 36 months of non-contribution
Hi Amit,
Yes, any EPF account that does not get any contribution for 36 months is declared as an inoperative account. When you fail to transfer the EPF account upon change of job, the account remains under your UAN without receiving contributions from your employer.
Hi I have applied for my 10C EPFO claim on 22.07.2020. The status is showing as under process. Kindly let me know what is the time taken for the claim amount.
Hi Harsha,
As per the rules of EPFO, it takes upto 7-10 working days to get the claim from the date of submission. However, due to Covid-19, it might take a little longer than usual time period.

Hi.. i want to withdraw my pf amount. My employer is not existing rit nw.. i hav my uan number and the other pf details. My aadhar is not updated by the employer. So in this case will i be able to withdraw my amount?
Hi Manu,
Without Aadhaar card, the process of making a withdrawal without the employer’s signature can be little difficult. However, you can follow these steps:
1. Download the forms (Form 19, Form 31 and Form 10C) from the EPFO’s member portal
2. Fill in all the details and get an attestation from a credible authority, such as – a Gazetted officer, magistrate, member of the EPFO, or manager of the bank you hold your salary account with
3. Make sure that you get a signature or stamp on every page of your form and verified bank details
4. You will have to state the reason for the direct application of withdrawal. Stating ‘Non-cooperation’ from ex-employer is usually a good enough reason (to avoid any cases of fraud)
5. Now, you need to attach an indemnity bond with Rs. 100 stamp paper
6. Submit the copies of your payslips, appointment letter, Form 19, and your employee ID card
7. Also, attach a copy of your KYC documents – identity and address proof – before submitting all the forms at the EPF office
Members with authenticated Aadhaar and Bank details seeded against their UAN can now submit their PF Withdrawal/Settlement/Transfer claims online
