Bank Holidays in West Bengal 2024

Note: It is to be noted that all 2nd and 4th Saturday and Sundays are bank holidays.

Banks remain closed on all Saturdays and Sundays of every month. Apart from these days, banks might also be closed on banking holidays, regional holidays, or national holidays. If customers need to make a bank transaction on bank holidays, they may do so through any one of the following ways:

• Fund transfer using IMPS, NEFT, UPI
• Access to Net-banking and Mobile-banking services
• ATM Services
• Cheque Drop facility at ATM/other Cheque Drop-boxes

 Note: As per RBI, in addition to the holidays mentioned above, the 2nd and 4th Saturdays and all Sundays in a month are bank holidays.

Note: The mentioned dates are observed as bank holidays as well as RTGS holidays and will remain non-operational in all regional offices in addition to the above-mentioned regions.

Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) can be explained as a system where there is continuous and real-time settlement of fund-transfers, individually on a transaction by transaction basis. RTGS Service is unavailable on Sundays and 2^nd & 4^th Saturdays. Following are the RTGS Holidays in West Bengal in 2020:

National Electronic Fund Transfer is a nationwide electronic payment system wherein the transfer of funds is done on half hourly basis. NEFT service is available 24*7 365 days a year. The process is based on Deferred Net Settlement (DNS) and the transfer of funds will be carried out on a half-hourly basis starting from 12:30 am to 12:00 pm. Hence people can carry out NEFT transactions accordingly.

In addition to the above mentioned bank holidays, banks also remain closed on the 2^nd and 4^th Saturdays of each month. If a month has five Saturdays, the 5^th Saturday will be a bank working day.

Despite banks being closed on national holidays, public holidays and regional holidays, customers can avail the banking services either through various platforms:

• Netbanking/Mobile banking
• Automated Teller Machine (ATM) Service
• National Electronic Fund Transfer (NEFT) Service
• Unified Payments Interface (UPI)
• Immediate Payment Service (IMPS)
