Indian Overseas Bank Timings Post COVID-19 Lockdown
Post lockdown, Indian Overseas Bank has restored its operations for the customers. All branches will remain open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM every day except on 2nd and 4th Saturday, Sundays, and bank holidays. The bank is also furnishing precautionary measures and emergency credit loans to mitigate the disruptions caused by the spread of Coronavirus in India.
All banking services including passbook printing, account opening, cash deposit and withdrawal, cheque clearing, remittances and government transactions, and note exchange services are now available at the bank.
The customers visiting the branch offices are advised to take necessary precautions.
- Customers will not be allowed to enter the bank without a face mask
- Social distancing should be maintained at the bank
- Customers should sanitise properly before and after leaving the premises

Indian Overseas Bank was established to encourage overseas banking and foreign exchange operation. The bank was established by Thiru.M. Ct. M. Chidambaram Chettyar in 1937. Indian Overseas Bank opened its branches in Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaya and Hong Kong after the Second World War. The bank then onwards continued to open more branches across the world. In the 1960s IOB consolidated many weak banks such as Coimbatore Standard Bank, Nanjinnad Bank, Coimbatore Vasunthara Bank, Kulitalai Bank, etc. Indian Overseas Bank was nationalized in 1969 by the government of India. In 2000 IOB went public by engaging in Initial Public Offering. The government of India currently holds 75% of the bank’s equity.
