Punjab National Bank (PNB) has been an active financial organization which has played a significant role in the Indian banking sector. With the availability of savings account options to facilities such as internet banking, all of PNB’s services are targeted at offering convenience to its customers.
Interestingly, the bank offers a variety of fund transfer options, ranging from standard methods such as cheque and demand draft (DD) payments to online money transfer. However, presently a majority of customers prefer online fund transfer methods because they are quick and require nil or minimum charges as opposed to DD and cheque that might attract higher charges.
What is a Demand Draft
A demand draft is a negotiable instrument issued by the bank on behalf of the drawer. The instrument directs another bank or branch to pay a specific sum of money stated in the draft to the payee (beneficiary). Unlike cheques, demand drafts are pre-paid instruments. The drawer has to first transfer money to the bank to issue a demand draft. This unique feature of demand drafts makes them a safer fund transfer option.
