Hyundai Motor Indian Ltd (HMIL) launched the sixth generation premium sedan Elantra last week at a starting price of Rs 12.99 lakh.
The car was launched in two variants of 1.6 litre diesel engine and 2.0 litre petrol motor. The prices of these variants at a Delhi showroom range from Rs 12.99 lakhs – Rs 17.99 lakhs for the petrol one and Rs 14.79 lakhs – Rs 19.19 lakhs for the diesel one. These are the introductory prices that are not expected to change before December.
The mileage of the manual version of Elantra is somewhere around 14.59 KM while for the automatic one it is 14.63 KM. The six-speed diesel automatic version guarantees a fuel efficiency of 18.23 kmpl, while the manual diesel one has 22.54 kmpl to offer.
The new model comes with various features such as projector fog lamps, high intensity discharge headlamps, glass antenna and voice recognition along with many others.
YK Koo, the MD and CEO of Hyundai Motor India Limited said that they will further strengthen their market share in the country with Elantra, which is already a significant much in the SUV segment.
Currently, the South Korean automaker holds a market share of 17.1% in the Indian passenger vehicle segment. Its sales in India account for 13% of Hyundai’s global sales.
Since its launch in 1990, 11.5 million units of Elantra have been sold globally. The new 2016 Elantra is a global bestseller and is expected to set new standards yet again like other times.
