Skoda Auto India launched Octavia Anniversary Edition, a limited edition of premium sedan Octavia, priced at Rs 15.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) on 14 September 2015.
The company’s official statement noted, “The Octavia Anniversary Edition comes with ‘smartlink connectivity’ for the first time in the Indian market”. The SmartLink function will let smartphones seamlessly connect to the car, and will let the customer use selected smartphone apps on the car’s infotainment system screen. SmartLink will be able to operate Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink systems. Media playback and turn by turn navigation are also available through the SmartLink feature.
The Octavia Anniversary Edition comes with some additional features such as rear view camera, keyless entry and engine start stop, rear side airbags and gearshift controls on the steering wheel. This new edition will now have 8 Airbags giving it class-leading safety content.
Meanwhile, Tata Motors launched the anniversary special edition of Tata Zest on 11 September 2015 to mark the model’s first anniversary. The special edition comes in both petrol and diesel options. The petrol and diesel variants have been priced Rs 5.89 lakh and Rs 6.94 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), respectively. The special edition of Tata Zest will be available for sale in select showrooms starting end of September up till October 2015.
The Zest Anniversary Edition will be based on the XMS variant of the car. It boasts of 10 new features over the standard XMS variant of the car, which include a new ‘Vocal White’ paint options, new wheel covers, piano-black ORVM covers, ‘Anniversary’ embroided onto the front seats, body-length stickers, badges on the C-pillar, rear-windshield power curtain with remote, floor-console with bottle-holder, and front scuff plates with illuminated brand name.
