New Delhi: The Central Government, in a move to reduce increasing congestion on roads, may allow registration of new vehicles only after adequate proof of parking space is produced by the owner.
“No car or vehicle should be registered without adequate parking space availability certificate," Union Minister for Urban Development Venkaiah Naidu said on Thursday.
The minster said his ministry is working closely with the Transport officials to get the new directive implemented.
India has over 180 million vehicles registered under the motor vehicles act.
