Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the Japanese-Indian JV, has finally announced that its new Fortuner will be launched in India on the 7th of November. The new and improved Fortuner’s design is based on the cutting-edge TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform, which also forms the basis of other Toyota cars — Innova and Hilux.
The new Fortuner shares some mechanical elements with the Innova and Hilux cars, but it features a more aggressive look with a solidly built front bumper, LED DRL projector headlamps and a sculpted front grille. The interiors too have undergone significant upgrade as compared to the previous version with a plush look provided through use of various top-notch materials.
Toyota’s new Fortuner is expected to be released with 3 engine variants – 2400 cc diesel, 2800 cc diesel and a 2700 cc petrol engine option. Depending upon the variant, the new car would feature either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission option. This new vehicle from Toyota’s stable is expected to be a direct competitor to some of the leading SUVs in India such as Ford Endeavour, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Chevrolet Trailblazer.
