ICICI Bank Credit Card Statement is a monthly consolidated report that is generated to give you an overview of all your expenses in a billing cycle. The statement consists of your transaction history, payment due date, minimum amount due, closing balance and much more. It tracks the usage of your credit card and hence helps in keeping a check for any fraudulent transactions or possible billing errors. It is basically an overall summary of how you have used your credit during a particular billing period.
Every credit card statement is filled with terms, numbers and percentages. It is important to read your credit card statement carefully to save yourself from any debt. Here are some of the common terms that are included in a statement:
Statement Period: The statement period or billing cycle is the cycle for which the bill is generated and the payment of the card has to be done.
Payment Due Date: It is the date by which you have to make the payment to avoid any interest or late payment charges.
Total Amount Due: It is the total amount due for the payment as on the statement date. This amount includes the opening balance, new purchases, fees and other finance charges.
Minimum Amount Due: It is the minimum amount that you are required to pay on or before the payment due date to avoid late payment charges.
Closing Balance: It is the total amount that you need to pay on your credit card at the end of the statement period. This is the amount you need to refer if you want to pay off your entire debt.
Current Outstanding Balance: It is the total amount of the money that you are liable to pay to the bank at a certain point of time.
Transaction Summary: A transaction summary provides the history of all the transactions made during a billing cycle. It includes your payments, credits, balance transfers, cash advances and other details.
The minimum amount due is the minimum amount that you need to pay on or before the payment due date. It is calculated as 5% of your total outstanding amount and includes all the charges that are levied on your credit card.
For example: You have made a purchase of Rs. 10,000 on August 15 and the due date is September 26, then your minimum amount due will be Rs. 500 (5% of Rs. 10,000).
