Documents Required to Buy Aviva Extra Cover
If a customer applies for the policy, he/she is asked to submit the following documents to the company:
- Identity Proof: Photo identity proof like Passport, Permanent Account Number (PAN) or Driving License of the customer
- Bank Account details of the customer
- Address proof with recent photograph of the customer
- Income and medical examination proof (in some cases)
Claim Process
When it is time to get claim under Aviva Extra Cover, in case of critical illness, hospitalisation, death or disability, you need to inform the insurance company. This can be done by visiting the website, writing a mail, calling at the toll-free number or visiting the nearest branch office. After information, you need to fill in the required claim form, then arrange for appropriate documents. After the scrutiny, the company will decide whether to accept or reject the claim.
Case Where You Can’t Claim Aviva Extra Cover (Exclusions)
- The benefits related to the insurance cover shall nullify if thepolicyholder commits suicide within 12 months of inception of the policy. This condition is also valid for the revived policy. The company is liable to pay only 80% amount of the premiums paid to the nominee of the policyholder.
- Illnesses or conditions suffered by the policyholder before the date of policy initiation are not covered under the plan in the first four initial years of the policy.
- A cooling off period of 6 months is provided to the policyholder during which no claim should be made, if the restoration benefit under the plan are activated, there is if a claim is made during this period of 6 months, the company would not pay any benefit
- A policyholder suffers any of the 12 critical illnesses mentioned in the policy document, and the illness is caused due to:
- alcohol or drugs intake
- participation in any racing event except swimming and athletics
- adverse effect of war or any type of riots
- mental or functional imbalances
- active participation in risky sports like mountain climbing, etc.
- any injury caused for which the policyholder got medical attention or treatment within days before his/her policy reinstated or comes into a fresh start
Advantages of Aviva Extra Cover
Death Benefit: Chosen Sum Assured will be paid to the beneficiary at the event of death of the policyholder while the term is still active.
Critical Illness Benefit: In a situation when the policyholder is diagnosed with any of the 12 critical illnesses described in the plan, the company pays a sum assured to the policyholder, provided that the illness is diagnosed after 90 days of the commencement of the policy.
Tax Benefit: The policyholder can avail tax benefits both for the premium and the returns under Sections 80C, 80D and 10(10D) of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
