    About HDFC Bank UPI RuPay Credit Card

    HDFC Bank UPI RuPay credit card is a virtual card which you can link to your UPI ID and use it to make UPI payments through PayZapp or other such apps. Issued only to the existing primary HDFC credit card users, this card comes with rewards benefits in the form of CashPoints on your UPI as well as other regular card transactions worth Rs. 100 and above. You can earn up to 3% CashPoints, depending on the spending category. This card also offers an interest free period of up to 50 days and the option of Smart EMI to its users. Best-suited for those who make most of their payments through UPI, this card comes with a minimal annual fee of just Rs. 99 which can easily be waived off on meeting the spending threshold by even the below average spenders.     Rewards Program

    On every transaction worth Rs. 100 or above, you can earn rewards in the form of CashPoints, as given below:

    • 3% CashPoints: On PayZapp transactions, groceries, supermarket and dining spends, up to 500 points per month
    • 2% CashPoints: On utility spends, up to 500 points per month
    • 1% CashPoints: On all other purchases1, up to 500 points per month
    • Redemption Value: 1 CashPoint = Rs. 0.25
    • Redemption Options2:  CashPoints can be redeemed against rewards catalogue, statement credit as cashback, or through SmartBuy

    In addition to the CashPoints benefits, HDFC RuPay UPI credit card also comes with the following features:

    • UPI Benefits

    This is a RuPay credit card, so can be used to make UPI transactions and lets the cardholders earn rewards in the form of CashPoints on such spends as well. Here, the CashPoints earning rate on UPI payments will be the same as other spends.

    • Welcome Benefit

    HDFC UPI RuPay cardholders get a gift voucher worth Rs. 250 on activating their cards within 37 days of card issuance and paying the joining fee.

    • Virtual Card

    This HDFC credit card is issued as a virtual card and the bank is not going to issue any physical UPI RuPay card for the users.

    • Fee Waiver

    Card annual fee can be waived off by spending Rs. 25,000 or above during the previous calendar year.

    What do we like about this card?

    HDFC RuPay credit card comes with decent rewards benefits and is quite affordable. It gives its users the flexibility and convenience of UPI payments. Even though the CashPoints come with a monthly capping, the upper limit is high enough to not be a hindrance to the earning potential of most cardholders. Moreover, while many cards often exclude utility bill payments from their rewards program, HDFC RuPay offers 2% rewards on this category. The minimal spending condition for annual fee waiver further eliminates any costs associated with the card usage.

    Pros

    • Up to 3% CashPoints on card spends, including UPI transactions and utility spends
    • Accelerated savings on food-related and everyday spends, like groceries, supermarket purchases and dining
    • Low annual fee with an easily achievable fee waiver condition

    Cons

    • Low rewards redemption value with monthly capping on rewards earnings
    • Card only offered as a floater card to existing HDFC bank credit cardholders and not independently
