Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is a popular housing scheme launched by the government in 2015 with an objective to provide people with affordable housing opportunities. Note: The Union Cabinet has extended the implementation period of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY – U) till December 31, 2024 with all verticals except Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS). CLSS vertical for MIG I & II under PMAY U was up to March 31, 2021 and for LIG/EWS was up to March 31, 2022. During the extension period no additional houses will be sanctioned. However, financial assistance is to be provided for the completion of 122.69 lakh houses, which were already sanctioned till March 31, 2022, under BLC, AHP & ISSR verticals of PMAY U.
How to Check PMAY Application Status Online
The steps to check Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Application Status are given as below:
Step 1: Visit the Official PMAY Website.
Step 2: From the ‘Citizen Assessment’ menu, select ’Track Your Assessment Status’ option.
Step 3: Once you select the option, you will be redirected to a new page – Track Assessment Form. On the page you will have two options to track your PMAY application status:
Option 1:
Check PMAY Application Status by Name, Father’s Name & Mobile Number
- If you choose to track your PMAY application status by providing your name, father’s name and mobile number, then you will have to enter details, which includes State Name, District Name, City Name, Your Name, Your Father’s Name and Mobile Number.
- After providing all details, click the ‘Submit’ button and your PMAY status will be displayed.
Option 2:
Check PMAY Application Status by Assessment ID
Assessment ID is a unique number that you receive when you successfully apply for PMAY scheme.
- If you choose to track your PMAY application status by providing your Assessment ID, then you will have to enter details, which includes your Assessment ID and Mobile Number.
- After providing the details, click the ‘Submit’ button and your PMAY status will be displayed.
PMAY Scheme
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Scheme (PMAY) was launched by PM Narendra Modi in 2015 with an aim to provide affordable housing to all Indian citizens. The main objective of the scheme is to construct 20 million houses by March 31, 2022. The scheme is broadly categorized on the basis of requirements for urban and rural population:
- Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U)
- Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G)

Components of PMAY
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has four components. They are:
In-situ Slum Rehabilitation (ISSR): This component is applicable for those citizens who are from slums. Under this PMAY component, the Government of Indian grants 1 lakh per house. The share of State and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) will be at the discretion of the State at the time of formulation of the project.
Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP): This component is applicable to citizens who do not have any land to build a house or cannot afford to avail a home loan. For this PMAY component, there will be central assistance of Rs. 1.5 lakh per dwelling unit. The share of State and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) will be at the discretion of the State at the time of formulation of the project.

Subsidy for Beneficiary-led Construction/Enhancement of an Individual House (BLC): This PMAY component is applicable to those citizens who have a land of their own and are interested in construction/enhancement. Citizens can avail the scheme for new construction under this component if their existing structure is kutcha or semi pucca. Citizens can avail the scheme under this component for enhancement of their existing house only if the existing structure is pucca and the enhancement is of minimum 9 sqm and the maximum area after the enhancement is not more than 30 sqm. For this PMAY component, there will be central assistance of Rs. 1.5 lakh per dwelling unit. The share of State and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) will be at the discretion of the State at the time of formulation of the project.
Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS): Citizens who can afford to purchase land/home, build a house or plan to modify their existing property with the help of a home loan should select the CLSS scheme.
