The Real Estate (Regulation & Development) (RERA) Act came into force from May 1, 2016. The main objective of the act is to safeguard the interests of homebuyers and developers, ensure transparency and counter real estate issues such as the sub-standard quality of construction and delayed possession. To ensure proper implementation of RERA across all states in India, respective state governments established authorities under the RERA Act 2016 to perform related functions such as regulate and promote the real estate sector. The Government of Bihar too under the RERA Act 2016 established RERA Bihar.
