Types of J&K Bank FD Schemes
Fixed Deposit Receipt (FDR)
- This is a non-cumulative term deposit scheme wherein simple interest is paid on a quarterly basis
- Minimum deposit amount: Rs 100
- Tenure: 7 days to 10 years
- Loan facility is available
Cash Certificate Scheme
- This is a cumulative term deposit scheme wherein compound interest is paid at maturity
- Minimum deposit amount: Rs 1,000
- Tenure: 7 days to 10 years
- Interest application: Quarterly compounding basis
- Depositors can avail loan against 90% of the deposit amount plus interest accrued
Mehandi Deposit Scheme
- In this scheme, FD can be opened in the name of minors jointly with their parents/ guardian
- Deposit amount: depends on tenure and maturity amount chosen
- Tenure: 5, 7, 10, 12 or 15 years.
- Maturity amount: Rs 25,000, Rs 50,000 or Rs 1 lakh
- Interest application: quarterly compounding basis
- Interest pay-outs: On maturity
- Depositor can get an Accidental Insurance Cover (linked to maturity amount) for parent or guardian
- Loan facility is available for up to 90% of the deposit amount and interest accumulated
Tax Saver Term Deposit Scheme
- Deposits under this scheme are eligible for a tax deduction of up to Rs 1.5 lakh under Section 80C in each financial year
- Minimum deposit amount: Rs 1,000
- Tenure: 5 years to 10 years
- The following three options are available under the tax saver scheme:
- Option I (TSTDS –I): The simple interest is applied on a quarterly basis as in the case of an FDR and is paid to the customer in cash or credited to his /her account every quarter.
- Option II (TSTDS –II): Here, discounted simple interest is paid to the customer in cash or credited to his /her account at the end of every month.
- Option III (TSTDS –III): Here, compound interest is paid along with the principal at the time of maturity.
- Loan facility is not available
Smart Saver Term Deposit Scheme (SDD)
- The scheme offers sweep facility wherein the balance above the floor level in the operative account (current deposit or savings bank) is auto-swept & converted into fixed deposits
- Core term deposit amount: Rs 25,000 and thereafter in multiples of Rs 1,000 as core deposit
- Tenure
- Core deposit: 1 year to 10 years
- Linked deposits: 180 days
- Floor Balance & Sweep Facility
- Savings Bank Accounts: Minimum threshold balance: Rs 5,000 and thereafter in multiples of Rs 10,000. In case of high-end Savings Bank Accounts, like “J & K Bank Special Bachat Deposit Scheme etc, auto sweep facility will operate beyond the threshold balance of Rs 10,000 or the prescribed AMB whichever is higher.
- Current Accounts: Minimum threshold balance: above Rs 25, 000 or the prescribed AMB in the particular Current Account Variant whichever is higher
- Reverse Sweep: Balances in the linked deposits (not the Core Deposit) will be available for clearing of debit instruments (standing instructions, ATM transactions, cheques etc) in case the balance in the operative account is not sufficient for clearing the transaction/instrument.
Monthly Yield Deposit Scheme
- Minimum deposit amount: Rs 1,000
- Tenure: 1 year to 10 years
- Interest application: Simple interest (discounted)
- Interest payout: Monthly
Child-care Deposit Scheme
- Depositors can open accounts with the combination of fixed deposits and recurring deposits for the following 3 years:12, 16 or 20 in two phases. Phase 1 would comprise of RD of 7, 5, or 10-year tenures and then, the maturity proceeds of Phase 1 would be used for opening cash certificates of 5, 7 or 10 year tenures
- Monthly installment: Rs 100
- Interest application: Quarterly compounding basis
- Interest payout: On maturity
- Accidental insurance cover for the parent/guardian is offered to the depositors (linked to the size of monthly deposit amount)
Depositor’s Pension Scheme
- Monthly deposit amount: Rs 25 & thereafter in multiples of Rs 25, Rs 50 or Rs 100
- Depositors can open account with the combination of fixed deposits and recurring deposits for generating regular income in two phases. Phase 1 would comprise of RD of 84, 105 or 111 monthsand then, the maturity proceeds of Phase 1 would be used for generating monthly income/pay-outs

Premature Withdrawal of Fixed Deposits
- The interest on premature withdrawal will be paid at 0.50% below the interest rate applicable for the duration the FD(s) remained with the bank
- No interest will be paid on FD(s) which remained with the bank for a tenure of less than 7 days
- Premature withdrawal of fixed deposits is not allowed in Tax Saver Term Deposit Scheme
