UTI Mutual Funds, one of the largest fund houses in India, has announced the launch of a new mutual fund scheme, the UTI Family (Father and Mother I Love You). This scheme is specifically targeted at senior citizens across India allowing the children of such individuals to make investments on their behalf in lieu of periodic payouts. The new scheme would be offered as an option under UTI’s existing schemes – the Wealth Builder Plan and the MIS Advantage Plan.
All payout in case of this new UTI MF scheme would be provided through a systematic withdrawal plan. The current UTI MIS Advantage Plan is a debt mutual fund with an estimated 75% of its fund value invested in debt and various debt-oriented schemes. On the other hand, the UTI Wealth Builder Plan is an equity-based mutual fund with high growth potential featuring a high degree of exposure to equity and various equity-related instruments.
As a result of the launch of this new UTI Family Scheme, UTI Mutual Funds expects to double its AUM (Assets Under Management) in case of both the Wealth Builder Plan and the MIS Advantage Plan in the coming year. As per a UTI spokesperson, the AUM of the MIS Advantage Plan is expected to reach the Rs. 1000 crores mark from the current Rs. 600 crores level, the Wealth Builder Plan’s AUM is expected to grow to Rs. 2000 crores from its current value of Rs. 900 crores during the coming year.
