BookMyShow RBL Bank Play Credit Card: A Co-branded Entertainment Credit Card

Welcome Benefit
The card offers activation benefits on BookMyShow app/website worth Rs. 500 via discount on ticket bookings for movies, streams, events, plays, and sports activities. This, however, is subject to making a purchase with the Play credit card within 30 days of card issuance and is valid for a period of three months from the date of activation.

For movie ticket bookings, the benefit is redeemable for minimum 2 ticket bookings, wherein Rs. 250 will be applied as discount on each ticket. In case the value of the movie ticket is less than Rs. 250, discount will be applied up to the value of each ticket. For category ‘Stream’, the maximum discount is limited to Rs. 500 per transaction.

Monthly Discounts on BookMyShow
The card offers monthly benefits with a discount of Rs. 500 each billing cycle on BookMyShow, subject to spending Rs. 5,000 in the billing month. This is subject to the following terms and conditions:

(i) Rs. 500 discount is applicable on 2 movie , play,  events, sports, and other activities tickets worth Rs. 250 each. For the ‘Stream’ category, you can avail a maximum of up to Rs. 500 discount per transaction.
(ii) You can use this benefit on a single transaction, for a maximum of two movie tickets, or discount of Rs. 500, whichever is lower.
(iii) Rs. 5,000 eligible for availing this discount is exclusive of EMI transactions, cash withdrawals, applicable fees & charges, and GST charges.

Discount on Food & Beverages
In addition to the benefits on entertainment, the card also offers discounts on food & beverages of Rs. 100 per month, on booking minimum two movie tickets every month on BookMyShow.

Fuel Surcharge Waiver
The card offers fuel surcharge waiver on transactions amounting between Rs. 500 and Rs. 4,000, up to Rs. 100 per month.

Renewal Fee Waiver
Annual fee of Rs. 500 is waived off for BookMyShow SuperStar* members. However, if you are not a SuperStar member, you can avail annual fee waiver on spending Rs. 1.5 lakhs in the preceding year. You can also avail free renewal on 10 transactions above Rs. 100 on BookMyShow in a year.

*To become a BookMyShow SuperStar member, you need to complete 10 transactions on BookMyShow in a calendar year.

RBL Bank BookMyShow is a co-branded entertainment credit card that focuses entirely on the association with ‘BookMyShow’ and the category ‘entertainment’ it falls into. This is because the benefits offered by this card are limited to ticket bookings on ‘BookMyShow’, and not across any other basic categories like rewards on online/offline spends. Even the benefit on BookMyShow of up to Rs. 500 is not a direct benefit, but a milestone feature that can be availed only when you spend Rs. 5,000 in a month.

On that basis, you must note that the card offers a minimal value back for a maximum of Rs. 500 on spending a minimum of Rs. 5,000. This is not great, especially when you can find a lot of other cards in the market that offer a similar range of benefits on entertainment or movie ticket bookings along with providing all-rounder benefits like rewards, fuel surcharge waiver, lounge access, etc.

To maximize the benefits of this card, you need to specifically make an effort of spending Rs. 5000. Thus, this card is suitable for you only if you are very keen on benefits around BookMyShow, and can consider replacing your other basic credit card with this one. Here, however, you must also ensure that you are not compromising on other all-rounder benefits offered by another credit card.
