Andhra Bank has received RBI’s approval to launch Bharat Bill Payment Service. The service, which is expected to be operational by September, will allow the bank’s customers to make all utility bill payments.
Andhra Bank has launched a series of IT initiatives to provide convenient banking experience to its customers. It plans to launch User Payment Interface to enable its customers to carry out money transfers through their mobile phones. It is also focusing on the use of technology to deliver services under the Jan Dhan-Aadhar- Mobile (JAM) initiative. The lender wants its customers to make better use of its mobile platform by providing their Aadhar and mobile number details.
The bank also plans to appoint women of self-help groups as its banking correspondents on a pilot basis. Depending on its outcome, it will replicate the model elsewhere.
