Bandhan Bank plans to add 180 new branches to its current network of 650 branches by March 2017. The bank hopes that these 850 branches will help it gain a pan-India presence in the next year.
At Bengal Chambers of Commerce & Industry’s Business-IT conclave, Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, the Managing Director and CEO of Bandhan Bank, said that a majority of these new branches will be opened outside the state of West Bengal.
Talking about their future strategies, he informed that they plan to open up branches in the deposit pockets of India, and this shall be done at the ground level in a new manner. He also added that they trying to establish Bandhan Bank as a PAN India brand in the banking sector. The 180 new branches will only further contribute to this effort.
Kolkata-based Bandhan Bank Ltd. was initially conceived as a micro finance company in 2001. Bandhan Bank received its banking licence only recently in 2015 by Reserve Bank of India.
