Qatar-based Doha Bank is planning to open a branch in Kochi with cutting-edge facilities. This will be the only Indian branch of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)-based bank.
The bank will be located inside LULU International Shopping Mall, Edappally. It will be inaugurated by Pinarayi Vijayan, chief minister of Kerala, on 27 August 2016. Senior Government officials of Kerala, Board members of Doha Bank, well-known local corporates and prominent businessmen from Qatar will attend the inauguration program.
The bank aims to fulfil the needs of large NRI population of Gulf and Kerala. Doha Bank, which started its operation in Mumbai in April 2015, offers retail banking, corporate banking, foreign exchange services, treasury and trade finance services.
Doha bank has its operational offices in Kuwait, Abu Dabi, Dubai and India. And the representative offices are located in Turkey, Korea, Tokyo, London, Singapore, Australia, Canada, China, Frankfurt, Sharjah, Hong Kong, Bangladesh and South Africa.
The bank will mainly focus on the GCC trade flows and wants to be the bank of choice for GCC-based NRIs, especially from Kerala and business communities based in GCC countries and India.
