Latest update on SBI Credit Cards

SBI Card has announced two major changes that will be applicable across all its credit cards:

From 1st Nov 2024:

  • Finance charges on all unsecured SBI Credit Cards will be updated from 3.50% p.m. to 3.75% p.m.

From 1st Dec 2024:

  • 1% fee will be applicable if utility bill payments from a credit card exceeds Rs. 50,000 in a billing cycle.
  • Transactions made on Digital Gaming Platforms/Merchants will not earn any reward points. Click here for the list of cards where this change is applicable.

Benefits of SBI Credit Cards

As mentioned above, different SBI cards come with different features and benefits. However, some common benefits are applicable to each SBI credit card.

Add-on Cards: With your primary credit card, you can avail add-on cards for your spouse, parents or children above the age of 18 years. Such cards usually come with the same benefits as primary cards.
Encash Facility: Cardholders can avail instant cash using Encash Facility and pay off in easy instalments of up to 48 months. Encash offer is given over and above the existing credit limit of the user whereas Encash Inline is given within the existing credit limit.
Flexipay Feature: You can convert big purchases into easy EMIs, using SBI Card’s Flexipay feature. Choose from a tenure of 3, 6, 9, 12, 18, or 24 months to convert transactions worth above Rs. 2,500 made during the last 30 days.
Balance Transfer: If you have high balances on other bank credit cards and find it difficult to pay off, you can transfer the balance to your SBI credit card and save on the finance charges. Balance transfers also carry interest but it will be much lower than the finance charges applicable on revolving balances.
Overlimit Facility: You can also spend more than your available credit limit by using the overlimit facility on your SBI Credit Card. However, overlimit charges will be applicable.
Automated Utility Bill Payment: To manage all your utility bill payments, you can set standing instructions on your SBI Card. This is known as the Easy Bill Pay feature.
Insurance Cover: Some SBI Credit Cards, particularly premium cards, also offer complimentary insurance covers, such as air accident cover, overseas hospitalisation cover and more.
Easy Access via SBI Card Mobile App: SBI credit cardholders can manage their credit cards with ease on the SBI Card Mobile App. They can make SBI credit card payments, check statements, unbilled transactions, use additional services like Encash, Flexipay, etc.

  • UPI- SBI credit card bill payment can also be paid using any UPI QR code, Pay by VPA (Virtual Payment Address) facility, or via BHIM SBI Pay.
  • Net Banking- You can pay your credit card bill by logging in to your net banking account on Online SBI portal. You can pay via NEFT or through any other bank’s net banking facility as well by selecting the option of SBI ‘Visa Credit Card Pay’.
  • SBI Apps- SBI YONO mobile app or website and SBI Card mobile app both can be used to make your SBI credit card payment.
  • NACH- National Automated Clearing House (NACH) is another mode which allows you to make auto bill payments by issuing monthly credit card bill payment cheques automatically. You just have to authorise the payment when asked.

What is SBI credit card limit? How to increase it?
The total credit limit on your SBI credit card is the maximum amount you can spend using your card. As you keep using the card, the limit reduces and it replenishes when you pay your credit card bills. The limit you would get on your SBI Card depends on a lot of factors including your income, credit score, limit offered on your existing cards and the internal policies of the credit card provider. How to close SBI credit card?
To close your SBI credit card, you can call the SBI credit card helpline or write to SBI customer support. Your card closure will be subject to all dues being paid in full. You should also see if you have any reward balance and redeem the same before closing your card. Note that the closure of primary credit card will automatically lead to the cancellation of add-on cards as well.

How to activate SBI credit card?
There are 3 ways to activate your SBI credit card- SBI Card Net Banking, SBI Credit Card app or email. To use the net banking facility, you must first be registered for the same. How to generate SBI credit card PIN?
You can generate SBI credit cards through SBI Credit Card app, website, Chatbot ILA or IVR. The process slightly varies for each method. To generate/change the PIN via SBI Card website, you must first login using your customer ID and password. Then you can go to the ‘Manage PIN’ section, choose the card and authenticate using OTP. How to convert SBI credit card transactions into EMIs?
If you did not convert your purchases into EMIs at the time of purchase, you can still do so later, using SBI Card’s Flexipay Facility within 30 days of the purchase. Minimum booking amount is Rs. 2,500. You can bunch multiple transactions above Rs. 500 to avail Flexipay. A one-time processing fee of 2% of the booking amount (minimum Rs. 249, maximum Rs. 1,500) will be levied. Interest rate is 20% p.a. but it can also vary as per the applicable offers.
